What is HIFU?

HIFU stands for High Intensity Focused Ultrasound.

It stimulates the deeper layers of the dermis and surrounding tissue to rejuvenate and replenish skin’s elasticity, tone and texture. The ultrasound energy causes the underlying tissue to heat rapidly causing cellular damage, which in turn stimulates them to produce more collagen. As collagen levels in the skin increase, firmness, elasticity and skin tightness are restored. Wrinkles and fine lines are reduced, and a youthful, plump complexion is restored.

No other treatment can target the layers of the skin as deeply as HIFU. It simultaneously causes tissue to contract and tighten, whilst thermal energy stimulates collagen production.

As HIFU targets the deeper layers of the skin. Results take around 1-3 months to fully show, but can be seen within the first week following treatment.

How many sessions of HIFU will I need?

The majority of people need one to three treatments. Touch-up treatments could be performed in 1 year intervals, depending in the degree of lifting and tightening required.

During your HIFU treatment I will cleanse the area ready for treatment and apply an ultrasound gel to the treatment area. The HIFU device is then applied to the skin.

Treatments usually last around 30-75 minutes, depending on your objectives and concerns. You may experience some heat and tingling of the skin during the procedure.

Following the treatment you can resume normal daily activities as the downtime is brief. Redness and sensitivity might be felt for 1-2 days following HIFU.
